The entry hall of Lioncourt's castle is a vast, gothic thing, with deep burgundy tapestries on the walls and matching carpet underfoot. The precisely-fitted masonry has been polished within an inch of its life, the dark stone gleaming sullenly in the insistently cheery light of the newly-installed electric lamps.

Within the high arches of the surrounding baulaustrades, two women intone the same spell, matching each other's cadence: A pale girl, looking little older than a child, and a tall, red-haired woman with serious slate-grey eyes.

As the last syllable fades, twin portals shimmer into existence: the first multiversal party in the Many Worlds is officially underway!

A gate opens, and a woman steps through. Her hair is rusty brown; her face is beginning to show signs of age. She is dressed in a dull orange blouse and a long slate-gray dress, and wearing a backpack; she carries in both hands a box wrapped in black paper and a red ribbon. A slim book hangs from her belt.

"Welcome," Cordelia greets her. "In exchange for Lioncourt's hospitality for the duration of the party, and safe passage home, will you swear a magically binding oath to harm none while you are here, and to not venture outside the castle grounds so as to prevent multiversal incident?"

She hides her nervousness poorly.

"I do so swear.

"...How will I recognize the bounds of the castle grounds?"

Lioncourt turns momentarily away from Thorn and Tyche.

"Don't worry, they'll be obvious: the perimeter is enclosed with wrought-iron railing. If you want to be particularly cautious, you could simply stay inside the castle itself."
