Arrivals at the Entry Hall (Lioncourt's Coronation Party)

The entry hall of Lioncourt's castle is a vast, gothic thing, with deep burgundy tapestries on the walls and matching carpet underfoot. The precisely-fitted masonry has been polished within an inch of its life, the dark stone gleaming sullenly in the insistently cheery light of the newly-installed electric lamps.

Within the high arches of the surrounding baulaustrades, two women intone the same spell, matching each other's cadence: A pale girl, looking little older than a child, and a tall, red-haired woman with serious slate-grey eyes.

As the last syllable fades, twin portals shimmer into existence: the first multiversal party in the Many Worlds is officially underway!

Cordelia raises her eyebrows slightly, but doesn't ask.

"Welcome," she says. "I hope I didn't catch you at a bad time. In exchange for Lioncourt's hospitality for the duration of the party, and safe passage home, will you swear a magically binding oath to harm none while you are here, and to not venture outside the castle grounds so as to prevent multiversal incident?"

The man waves his hand idly. "No, not at all. As it turns out, totalitarian governments tend not to appreciate uninvited guess."

Behind him, two uniformed officials become visible through the gate. Though they begin searching the area, neither of them seem to notice the gaping hole in reality, and indeed one of them steps entirely through the gate without passing through to the party.

He bows again. "I am Aisilian Rok'suchi, Mage of the Third Order, and I... hm. Actually, would you be willing to add an exception for the defense of others in that oath?"

The gate closes neatly behind him.

"I'm Cordelia, Leaf's mother. Currently helping Lioncourt out with the retrieval of her guests. The defense of others is... a well-meaning addition, I'm sure, but seems potentially broad. How about, the immediate defense of others within the castle?"

Aisilian nods. "Hm. There are better ways to save the world, yes. Very well, with those altered terms I accept that oath."
