The gentle but insistent tink-tink-tink of a silver spoon against a teacup carries through the crowd, followed by a clear, confident voice as Lioncourt addresses the gathered guests.

"Ladies, gentlemen, and other various but no less incomparable sentients, the main event of the party will begin shortly. If you have a coronation present for the Lady Lioncourt and have not yet placed on the central table, please do so now: everyone is likewise encouraged to take a seat on one of the benches if they wish to observe the ceremony."

Lioncourt blinks at that, then shoots a glare over her shoulder at the red-haired mage.

"I would appreciate if you didn't go around predicting things."

She opens the envelope and scans the list.

"... I see. Well, they certainly are getting more inventive. Thank you, I suppose, but next time you decide to casually invade the privacy of my citizens, I would prefer for you to at least ask beforehand."

She leaves the letter on the table, and deliberately does not open Inkspot's present next. Here's one from Anda and Linsa: what's inside it?

Inside is a small packet. Inside the packet there are a number of seeds, that seem like some variety of rose seeds.

There is also a short note with brief instructions for planting and care and instructions for brewing tea from the leaves of the plant.

Well, that's certainly not bad at all. A plant from another universe to add to her garden. She idly sweeps the seeds with her Memnodyne vision: do these work on DNA, or...?

"Thank you for the fine gift: two of my weaknesses at once, gardening and tea."

She smiles at the Sine and Gen pair.

There is - a note, a very pretty (and very expensive) golden necklace set with a multicolored mystic topaz, and a bag of what looks to be candy. Made from cacti.

The note reads,

This once belonged to a man who thought it wise to enslave his fellow sentients. One of his former slaves stole this from him, and gave it to me as thanks. I haven't been able to do anything with it for two thousand years.

I am not insulting you by comparing you to him. But I did think it appropriate that while you redeem your own world, you carry a precious item that reminds you of past victories against tarnished foes.

Then she reaches down, picks up the heavy golden necklace, and clasps it around her neck.

She looks around for the god, and inclines her head with respect.

"Thank you."

Lioncourt looks away, feeling the weight of the pendant in her hand: then she reaches down again, this time for an intriguingly cubical gift. What's with akratic solids, anyway?

The cube does not know the reason for the abundance of platonic solids.

What it does know is that it is supposed to respond to human bioelectric fields. What is currently touching it -- yes, those are there.

It lights up, and projects a small square, with text in it that reads: "If you can read this message, please tap the cube."

She taps the cube.

Here is another cube! A box wrapped in dark gray paper, and tied with a red ribbon in a bow, about half a meter to a side.

The enclosed Book and Ink are suitable for use in the Art. As you are already able to travel between worlds, I expect you will wish to write a Descriptive Book. I have also enclosed a primer on the Art. May these things serve you well.

Underneath the note is a large glass vial of ink; a fountain pen; a ream of photocopied sheets tied with twine, the topmost sheet reading THE ART OF WRITING in block letters; and a thick hardcover book, bound in blood-red cloth, with soft sturdy blank white pages.

Inkspot's gift is a small, simple box. Quite plainly sitting over there. Does Lioncourt dare to touch it after Meletiti Entelecheiai's recommendation?

Yes, yes she does. After all, it's been long enough to make her point, and she is curious as to what her fellow plant-mage might have sent her.

Some kind of plant device, set with glowing flowers. When the box opens, it brightens, flowers unfurling and sparkling just a little. There are a number of buttons on the device, and a note explaining it.

According to the note, it plays music, and requires only minimal upkeep. There's a set of instructions for adding new songs, which seems to be relatively simple and based around growing new flowers grown from this device and exposing them to the music recorded.

She looks over her shoulder at Inkspot.

You do realize that you're outright teasing me now, right?

She grins, then puts the flowers down. What present next...?
